La bella figura is just the kick in the cut offs that I needed. I have been working from home since March 2020 and my work wardrobe has changed from business casual to beach bum casual; cut offs, tank top and flip flops. I love the easiness but I miss how getting dressed up made me feel. I decided to invest in new sunglasses and handbag for fall. It’s a start.
On a totally separate topic; I would love your recommendations for a wellness retreat. I am turning 50 in February and want to celebrate this milestone by focusing on healing, health and holistic wellness. I am in Arizona but willing to travel.
The style thing…. So interesting. I find myself at a point of life where I don’t know what fits my personality anymore. Literally I couldn’t tell you what kind of clothes feel good to me, or what impression I’d want to make walking into a room. First time in my life I don’t have a signature style and nothing looks or feels appealing. I guess I’m in a fallow fashion season. I wonder what will eventually take root for me if I just ride this out (in my Red Sox T shirt and jeans…).
I hear you. I find perusing fashion sites helps me. Either it reassures me that I do not need to get on a trend train, or it inspires me to create an outfit out of things I already own, or gives me a nudge to purchase something I may have not of thought of. When I was a teen and into my early 20's, I only wore black, white and gray. So much so that my girlfriends would comment on it. Then out of nowhere I became the biggest Mara Hoffman fan, big bright bold prints. But I have slowly gone back to my roots now that I have silver hair. I stick to black/white/gray and neutrals and no more prints. I found these two videos helpful.
I feel I lean towards a similar style with her, so that's probably why I am attracted to sharing her stuff. However, if she is not for you, I would still suggest looking around on youtube for style channels.
That said, would you be interested in more style/fashion talk here???
What a coincidence that I am traveling to NYC in Nov! Being from CA, I don't know where to stay, eat or do beside the typical tourist stuff. I am off on IG but would love to hear your recommendations. Will you be sharing them via Substack? I did write Uva down and will tell Massimo hello if we get there...
