The Sober Glow Studio is an extension of what was started on social media circa 2016. As I have evolved, the topics I cover have naturally evolved. Here, I provide stories, recommendations, and resources on the art of living an alcohol-free lifestyle, navigating midlife, and anything that simply feels good.

The Sober Glow Studio:

Tips for Living an Alcohol-Free Lifestyle: This is a series of one-offs served with some straight talk, a bit of sass, and a penchant for not taking oneself or life too seriously. It's a nice place to start when you want a fresh take on the acute quit stage. I write these for myself so I never forget and for anyone who needs them. In 2015, I didn’t have many inspirational sources that made this lifestyle look and feel good. This is my way of sharing the lightness of this choice with a sense of humor - something that is very much needed.

UPGRADE TO ACCESS IT ALL

Here is where I get to have a little more fun and freedom to speak to topics that I normally don’t speak to via social media. The conversations go deeper into the alcohol-free lifestyle and beyond. As a 48-year-old registered nurse who has been a non-drinker for nine+ years, this is where we move away from the acute quit arena and dig deeper into choices that allow us to continue feeling good on this journey. There’s this idea that quitting alcohol is the miracle pill that will fix everything. It’s not. It’s actually the door opening to all the beautiful work ahead.

Topics covered

  • Living your best alcohol-free lifestyle with a lighthearted perspective

  • Traveling sober tips

  • Back to basics on health and how to be your best advocate (from a Nurse)

  • Navigating the midlife adventure, perimenopause and all the choices we have.

  • Library of recommendations & resources: books/podcasts/people to love

  • Practices to add to your toolbox - journing, mapping, breathwork, yoga nidra, visualizations (writings, recordings, and lives).

I present all this in an array of stories, resources, rabbit holes (my favorite), and recommendations to actually feel good in this season of life when everyone around us is saying it’s normal to feel like sh*t.

I am also a Registered Nurse, and while I might give my opinions and anecdotal experience, I will always source appropriately. I take resourcing and education seriously. I don’t make blanket statements. Studies and sources will be listed when necessary to continue your research, which is always encouraged!

When not working in the hospital as an oncology RN or hosting alcohol-free adventure retreats (here and here), I have been writing publicly about my choice to live an alcohol-free lifestyle since 2016, mostly here. That is until I archived all of it (600+ posts) in 2021 when social media no longer felt like the right place. The younger generations are now privy to this online energetic cleansing, calling it grid zero.

I stayed pretty quiet for a year or two until I started writing on Substack. This platform feels better. It’s more intimate and truly a place for people wanting to continue this conversation with me.

Here are two recent podcasts where I was invited to share how life looks now.
