Keeping it short and sweet because we need to savor every morsel of these last few days of summer (technically).
The illusion that change takes time, but change happens the moment you decide. I recently came across this online, and wow, what a great reminder of how some things can change so easily when we fully commit to the decision to change. I also found it to be a soft reminder of how things will never change if we never fully decide.
This is precisely how I quit drinking. There was no profound moment. No life-altering event. No rock bottom. I was finally fed up with my own bullshit around alcohol, and something switched inside of me, and I DECIDED I was no longer going to drink alcohol. And somehow that shift in thinking shifted my entire life.
What is it that you want for your life that you have yet to decide on?
One decision, one gentle pivot, and the entire path unfolds differently.
There are many reasons why I am thankful for having been born in the 1970s, but none more than never having had to grow up with social media. I lose my breath just thinking of all the sh*t we did when we were younger that had it been socially documented, there is no way in hell I would have a professional career right now. I mean, would any of us?
However, I have mad respect for the younger generations when it comes to their ability to care for themselves in such an honest way, and they do so pretty unapologetically.
And even though this alcohol-free movement started with mostly Gen Xers sharing on Instagram, Gen Z has taken it and run with it.
Bravo!
Have you heard of Mingle Mocktails?
This brand has been labeled as the fastest-growing NA spirits on the market, so how have I never heard of it? The founder and CEO, Laura Taylor, was also named to Forbes 50 over 50 this past July! Hello, goals!
I admittedly went into my favorite NA brand bubble and rarely tried other brands, but lately I have been actively seeking out others to try. Not that I have to look that hard because there are hundreds, but I also don’t want to drink total crap. I prefer brands that are as clean as possible and are founded by women in this space.
Will report back after this weekend.
We just watched the first episode of Black Rabbit on Netflix last night, and it’s the first show in a while that held my attention longer than ten minutes. Not only is it a sexy love letter to NYC (it’s shot beautifully), but it's also a homage to the dynamic and crazy underbelly of NYC’s restaurant & bar business. Something both my husband and I spent many years in. Something I thought I hated when I was in it, but can now say was the ultimate rite of passage into that city and humanity.
Coming up next week: Tuesday, September 23rd, marks 100 more days in 2025, and I am ready for a challenge. Are you? Look out for the invitation to create your own end of the year 100-day challenge. I will share what I'm doing to set myself up for success in 2026, the year in which I turn 50.
MM.
Always enjoy hearing about what you have going on, Mia. Thank you and happy weekend to you! Cheers.
