Hi, Mia. Thank you for being open to listening and learning. I do want to point out, that as a starting point, to reference what is happening as being between Muslims and Jews is inaccurate. Eighteen percent of Israel's citizens are Muslim. They are elected to Israeli parliament and pray, work, and live alongside their Jewish friends. Hamas does not act on behalf of all Muslims, not even the people they claim to represent, the Palestinians. They take aid from the mouths of Palestinians to fund terrorism and openly state that their sole goal is the complete annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people. Along with the regime in Iran, they teach schoolchildren to chant "Death to America. Death to Israel." Learning the long and complicated history of the Middle East is important work, and I wish you well. For now, there is no "why" that justifies Hamas in its terrorism, rape, murder, and kidnapping, which does nothing to help Palestinians, who unfortunately will suffer greatly in addition to Israelis.
I’m glad to hear your trip was so meaningful. Last year in an attempt to learn more about the state of Israel I visited the country. In preparation for the trip I was given several books to read. Prior to this I only knew what I’ve been told from our national media. Boy did I learn how much we’re being lied to and deceived. This latest attack by Hamas is not about the Israel/Palestine conflict. This is about an evil, immoral terrorist organization who place no value on human life. They are being backed by the country of Iran. Yes Iran---the country that our current President just gave $6 million to. If you truly want to know what’s going on, don’t listen to our media. Listen to people like Ben Shapiro and Dave Rubin. These men have spent lots of time in Israel. They have friends and family who currently live in Israel. They are well educated on the country. I’m not apologizing for making this political because it is and we as Americans need to wake up to the evil that lurks within our own country. We have American citizens cheering this on. It’s appalling.

I am hopeful that by sharing how I am quite uninformed when it comes to this, your comment and other comments here and elsewhere will only increase my awareness and knowledge as well as others who may also be watching and questioning.
